It’s been two weeks since I started my dreadlocks journey, and I wanted to share how my starter locs are settling in. This stage has brought some subtle but noticeable changes, and it’s interesting to see how the process is taking shape.
How Starter Locs Settle After Two Weeks
After two weeks, the initial frizz is calming down, and my locs are beginning to feel more structured. They’re still in the early stages, but there are signs of progress as they start to bud and thicken. It’s a reminder that the process takes time and consistency.
My Routine: Simple Steps for Maintenance
To support the health and development of my locs, I’ve been keeping a straightforward routine:
- Sleeping with a Durag: This protects my hair from friction during the night and helps keep the locs in place. It’s an easy step that goes a long way in maintaining their shape.
- Essential Oils and Water Spray: Twice daily, I lightly spray my locs with a mix of essential oils and water. This keeps them moisturized and reduces dryness, which is especially important in these early stages.
These small but consistent habits are helping my starter locs settle naturally.
What’s Ahead?
The journey is still in its early days, but I’m looking forward to seeing how my locs continue to evolve. Each phase brings something new, and I’ll keep documenting the changes as they come.
If you’re on a similar journey or thinking of starting one, feel free to share your thoughts or routines in the comments. It’s always helpful to learn from others’ experiences.
