I’ve just hit the five-week mark in my dreadlocks journey, and this milestone comes with my first retwist. It’s been exciting to see how much my locs have changed since starting, even without a photo from right before the retwist (I’ll make sure to get one next time).
First Retwist: What I Learned
The first retwist was an important step in my journey. It helped tighten the roots and give my locs a more polished look. This process also highlighted how much my hair has grown and started to form. While the starter phase can feel slow, this retwist was a great reminder of the progress being made.
Preparing for the Next Step: Interlocking
Looking ahead, my next appointment will involve interlocking. This technique is new to me, but I’m looking forward to how it can help with the longevity and neatness of my locs. I’ll also make sure to capture pre-retwist photos to show the full progression.
Reflection on the Journey So Far
Maintaining consistency with my routine has been key. Sleeping with a durag and using my essential oils and water spray daily has kept my locs moisturized and protected. These small steps continue to make a big difference in how my hair looks and feels.
What’s Next?
My next post will cover my interlocking experience and the changes it brings to my locs. If you’re curious about the process or considering it for your own journey, stay tuned.
How’s your loc journey going? Let me know your experiences or tips in the comments—I’d love to hear about them.
Thanks for following along, and I’ll be back with more updates soon!
